Agbayani welcomes PRISAA athletes, officials

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Gov. Victor E. Agbayani expressed satisfaction over the speedy renovation of the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) here, which will serve as the main venue of the 2006 Private Schools Athletics Association (PRISAA) national game slated February 5-12.
“The major restoration effort is our way of reiterating our strong commitment to the development and welfare of our youth,” Agbayani said, even as he welcomed the athletes and sports officials.
Engr. Divinia de Leon, provincial engineer, said the provincial government is spending several millions of pesos for the renovation of the sports center which was built in 1995 when Pangasinan hosted the Palarong Pambansa during the term of then President Fidel Ramos.De Leon said repair work includes rehabilitation of ai-cnditioning system of the gymnasium, waterproofing of bleachers, grandstand, and flooring, installation of gymnasium lighting system, pest control treatment, repainting of gymnasium, grandstand, and cyclone wire fence.
Also under repair are the various dormitories for the athletes and sports officials, grandstand windows, stadium and grandstand walls, hallways and outdoor playcourts for tennis, basketball, volleyball and sepak takraw.
“We are also upgrading the gymnasium flooring by installing resilient synthetic PVC cushion flooring with close cell foam and shock absorption,” De Leon said.
Dr. Gonzalo T. Duque, national PRISAA president, said the opening ceremonies will be held at the NRSCC with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as invited guest of honor and speaker.
Duque, who is also president of Lyceum Northwestern University, said the President would be joined by Speaker Jose De Venecia, Jr., Gov. Agbayani, Vice Gov. Oscar Lambino, Pangasinan solons, and other provincial and municipal officials.
The other event venues are Dagupan City, San Carlos City, Binmaley and Alaminos City.
The Dagupan City government is hosting a version of the “Kalutan ed Dagupan” on the opening week to be highlighted by a concert featuring Gary Valenciano and Mocha, a fast rising singer and daughter of the late Judge Oscar ‘Gary’ Uson an Dr. Ester Uson of Pangasinan. (PIO/Merlita Tibalao)
