Former scholar named prov’l planning officer

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan - The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has continued the appointment of Ms. Norma Landingin Untalan as provincial planning and development officer vice Tom Teja who retired last December.

Untalan has been serving as assistant provincial planning officer since 1998.

As a young student, she graduated as class valedictorian at General Generoso Del Pilar Elementary School in Bonuan, Dagupan City. She also graduated as class valedictorian in Bonuan High School.

She finished her Bachelor of Science in Education degree as cum laude at the University of Pangasinan where she also earned her Master of Arts in Education.

A recipient of several citations such as Most Outstanding Employee in 1981 from the Philippine Statistical Association (Ilocos Chapter) and in 1982 by the Vanguards of Saint Therese. Ms. Untalan started her career as secondary school teacer at the University of Pangasinan from 1967 to 1977.

She entered government service in 1977 as a statistician at the governor’s office.

Untalan said the province’s development plan is concentrated in five major areas: increased agricultural productivity, infrastrurcture development, human resources development, trade and tourism promotion, and industrialization. (PIO/Jennifer Domantay)
