Shallow grave yields cadaver of ex-cop executed by NPAs

UMINGAN, Pangasinan - The remains of a retired police officer who was killed and buried in a shallow grave in remote barangay Maseil-seil here were dug upby the military and police Thursday

Police Superintendent Noli Taliño, deputy police provincial director and concurrently provincial intelligence officer, said the cadaver was believed to be that of retired SPO4 Esteban Bravo of Guimba, Nueva Ecija.

Bravo, formerly with the intelligence division of the Nueva Ecija police was reported missing since February this year but was actually abducted by the NPA, who later killed him buried him in Maseil-seil in Umingan, near the Nueva Ecija border.

The shallow grave of the retired police officer was revealed by a New People’s Army surrenderee in a tactical interrogation conducted by the Philippine Army’s 71st Infantry Battalion in Nueva Ecija.

Taliño said police and army soldiers returned to barangay Maseil-seil the next day, Friday, in order to dig up the remains of another victim of NPA atrocities, that of a woman who was killed by the terrorists after they suspected her to be a deep penetration agent of the military.

Taliño said that in their second trip to barangay Maseil-seil, some four-hour walk from the foot of the Carabllo mountain, policemen and soldiers discovered an abandoned NPA training camp. (PNA)
