Sen Escudero adopted son of La Union

Sen. Escudero adopted son of La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Senator Francis Joseph ‘Chiz’ Escudero was adopted son of La Union by virtue of a resolution enacted by the provincial board.

Resolution No. 009-2008 was presented to Senator Escudero by Governor Manuel Ortega, Vice Governor Eulogio Clarence Martin de Guzman III and members of the provincial board on March 2 when the senator was the guest of honor and speaker during the 158th La Union Foundation Anniversary celebration.

The resolution stated that Senator Escudero has endeared himself to the people of La Union due to his unending support to the different projects and programs of the provincial government.

Among others, Escudero crossed party lines in supporting the inclusion of the former U.S. Wallace Air Station into the Poro Point Special Economic and Freeport Zone as provided for in Republic Act No. 9400.

This spurred both economic and tourism investment opportunities from local and foreign, thus greatly improving the province’s economic progress and well-being of its people.

Senator Escudero likewise supported and fast-tracked the approval some years back of the cityhood of the City of San Fernando which is now a flourishing and progressive city working harmoniously with the Province of La Union.

His adoption as son of the Province of La Union would further strengthen the bond of common concern and oneness among our people – giving inspiration and motivation in the pursuit of a stronger republic. (PNA)
