L-NU Nursing Course

by Philamer C. Celi

ON April 27, 2006, Dr. Carlito S. Puno, chairman of the Commission on Higher Education, issued a certificatin attesting to the fact that the Lyceum-Northwestern University, with main campus in Tapuac District, Dagupan City, which was granted DEREGULATED STATUS effective October 27, 2003 until October 26, 2008, is not among the colleges and universities whose Nursing Program is being monitored and re-assessed by the Technical Committee on Nursing Education of CHED for possible phase out or closure as erreneously published in a national newspaper in March this year.

The certification was timely issued as the enrolment period started in May at L-NU to avert any misinformation, black propaganda and rumors being circulated and perpetuated by some pranksters or unscrupulous higher education institutions or entities that are in the brink of closure or phase-out or that have frustrations to meet certain level of standards in maintaining their Nursing Program.

Despite these ‘below-the-belt’ propaganda and ‘dirty’ marketing tactics employed by rival institutions, L-NU is unperturbed and in fact, as in the past years, has been accepting enrollees, first to fourth year students and transferees, in the College of Nursing. Having been established by the illustrious Duque family, L-NU has an outstanding record of many Board Examination passers and topnotchers. Indeed, one can never put down the good name of L-NU under the presidency of Dr. Gonzalo T. Duque.
